Is Competition War or a Partnership?

How do you view your competition and opponents? Do you see competition as war or a partnership? Viewing competition as war is a path toward disliking competition, demonizing your opponents, anti-social behavior, and burnout. Opponents can be challenging especially when they ‘play dirty’, but negative emotions are not conducive for sustainable high performance. Peak performers view competition and opponents as a partnership whether they compete fairly or not. Individuals who see competition as a partnership see their varying opponents as valuable parts of the growth and development process. They enjoy competition and challenges, they compete with character, and they become more experienced instead of becoming burned out. View your competition as a partnership and while you are growing you’ll be making friends and setting a great example along the way.
